The Town Square Initiative is a yearlong volunteer effort in which Gensler designers set out to unearth and re-imagine unexpected open space in cities around the globe. All 43 Gensler offices were invited to participate in the conceptual project, in which we challenged our designers to identify open space in the city and re-imagine it as a town square.

Denver International Airport's (DIA) South Terminal Redevelopment Program aims to reinvent the way the airport connects to its city — providing travelers a swifter gateway to downtown Denver — while turning the airport into a travel destination. DIA awarded design of the hotel and conference center to Gensler in 2009, and the design of the Public Transit Center, plaza, and site development in 2011.
