Mills, mindsets, Mendocino and memories?

This past June, I had the opportunity to visit Mendocino, Calif. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a deep dive into the town’s approach to sustainability. The trip marked my third experience of the town and on this particular occasion the town’s water towers and windmills struck me in a very different and somewhat profound way.

London 2050: The First Genuinely Global City

Gensler will present its vision, including renderings such as this, of what the City of London will become in 2050 as part of The Developing City exhibition.

In the context of the continuing shock waves that reverberate through the world’s economy, competition between cities shows no sign of abating. London and New York are widely accepted as the only two world cities, and London just edges the lead against its rival to maintain the crown of the world’s leading financial centre. As one future-gazes, the question is whether London will be eclipsed by the fast-emerging cities of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) economies.

LEEDing the Way at Portland JetPort

Tohoku, Part 2

It seemed appropriate that we were traveling to the tsunami area very close to the one year anniversary of the disaster. The three hour drive up to the area was through primarily wooded, hilly areas, so one never really caught a glimpse of the devastation. It wasn’t until we got very close to our destination that I realized the extent of the damage and destruction.
